telent and Deutsche GigaNetz put 200th PoP site into operation

Backnang, 29.01.2025 - telent GmbH has been working for Deutsche GigaNetz GmbH as a turnkey partner and general contractor for the nationwide fibre optic expansion since 2020 as part of a framework contract. Deutsche GigaNetz is one of the leading telecommunications companies for the roll-out and expansion of fibre optic networks in Germany.
 

As part of the broadband expansion projects, telent has developed the entire generic network concept for the PoP sites (Point of Presence) together with Deutsche GigaNetz. As general contractor, telent supplies turnkey PoP sites for these expansion projects with the complete site equipment, including active system technology (Nokia 7360 FX iSAM), and maintains and eliminate these as part of the existing maintenance and service contract.

Two different types are used for the PoP locations: A-PoP (Access PoP) as a telecommunications container in various sizes and O-PoP (Outdoor PoP) as a multifunctional housing MFG18.

In recent years, telent experts have already set up and equipped around 300 PoP locations for the important nationwide network expansion with future-proof fibre optic technology. In December 2024, the important milestone of connecting the 200th PoP location to Deutsche GigaNetz's fibre optic network was reached in close cooperation.

This means that Deutsche GigaNetz customers can reliably use a state-of-the-art, stable fibre optic network with high-speed Internet and high bandwidths. Private customers have been using the energy-efficient GPON technology as part of the MyNet product family right from the start. This provides data rates of between 150 Mbit/s and 2.5 Gbit/s (download). With the ProNet product family, business customers also benefit from high-bit-rate XGS-PON connections with up to 10 Gbit/s (symmetrical).
